The Dutch Brexit aan Zee beach event will be postponed to 29 February 2020. “The new date has been set in consultation with the municipality of Beverwijk,” says initiator Ron Toekook. The idea of organising a big event on October 31 on the beach of Wijk aan Zee in just two months turned out to be a bit too ambitious. It was not possible to arrange sufficient financial resources in this short period of time, partly because companies had already assigned their sponsoring for the year. In addition, some of the costs were extremely high. “Security alone costs a ton.” The organisation has already started the reimbursement of purchased tickets.

The organisation of Brexit aan Zee emphasizes that this is a delay, not a cancellation. “Because Brexit aan Zee has become an extremely strong brand in such a short time, the event will take place anyway”. They expect that it will be easier to arrange sponsorships for an event at the beginning of the year.

Reimbursement of tickets
